This weekend filled with exciting festivals and parties. Continuing the Tricenntenial celebration happening around San Antonio, join the Parade and Picnic at Roosevelt park. These events are for the entire family, so make sure to get everyone out of the house and enjoy some delicious food and activities.



Push, Pull, Pedal, Dance and Drive Parade and Picnic

What: As a celebration of both the neighborhood’s 20th anniversary and the city’s Tricentennial, the Lone Star Neighborhood Association is throwing a fun, family-friendly party.

Why: After the parade concludes at Roosevelt Park, the second half of the event, the picnic, begins. The picnic portion will include hot dogs, nachos, beverages and other assorted goodies, as well as live music, poetry readings, dance performances and activities for kids aplenty.

Texas Salsa Festival

What: Don’t miss the inaugural Texas Salsa Festival, heating up San Antonio on Saturday, May 27 from 12 – 6 p.m., benefiting the Hemisfair Conservancy.

Why: Enjoy a beautiful day at Hemisfair Park while sampling salsas from the best commercial salsas, restaurants and locals in the state and vote for your favorite! Plus, live music, 3 DJ stages, Salsa dancing and demos, art vendors, interactive games and a children’s zone and splash pad.

Memorial Day Bash

What: You are all invited to The Roundup’s Memorial Day Bash. This holiday weekend is extra special for The Roundup as to it is also their 3-year anniversary party.

Why: The event will have live music, full bar, beer garden, food trucks, free hot dogs for kids from 6-7PM, and the playground will be open so the little ones can burn off some energy.

What: Piñatapalooza is a free family friendly interactive piñata art show held at beautiful Travis Park.The only art show in town where you can see the art, buy the art, and Smash the art.

Why: This is a free event that will include piñata raffles of all displayed piñatas, live piñata smashing, on-site printmaking, mariachi performances, Folklorico dance performances, food trucks, and so much more. The show will be followed by a free movie screening of favorite luchador ‘Nacho Libre.’

Fiesta del Verano

What: Celebrate the Dance Academy’s accomplishments after a year of intense training and classes. There will all sorts of dances for your entertainment.

Why: Students will captivate audiences through the energetic dances and lively music of the Mexican states of Baja California, Colima and Chiapas. Academy Flamenco students will also debut their talents with intricate rhythms and beautiful costumes.

8th Annual Taco Truck Throwdown

What: The 8th Annual Taco Truck Throwdown will feature over 25 of San Antonio’s favorite food trucks and live music from Finding Friday and Los #3 Dinners. Visit the website for more information.

Why: Adults can enjoy $3 Twisted Tea, from which a portion of the proceeds benefit the VFW Post 76 Veteran Relief Fund, providing assistance to veterans in need.

Spring Vibes Live 2018

What: Join Brick at Blue Star for their Spring Vibes Live 2018. It will be a fun filled evening with lots of food and music.

Why: The event will have local music, thought-provoking art, and delectable food and drinks for guests to enjoy. The event will also feature some of San Antonio’s finest vendors, artists, and food trucks.

Native Plant Walk

What: The event will be conducted at the Breezeway of the Halsell Welcome Building. The walk is free to members or with paid admission, but registration is required.

Why: On this walk you’ll learn about the medicinal uses of native plants as well as their historical and cultural uses, and which are favored by birds, butterflies and other wildlife.

Memorial Day Weekend Scavenger Hunt

What: Come to the Science Mill over the holiday weekend, and test your puzzle-solving mettle as you work your way through STEM-themed clues.

Why: This is an exciting event for the kids to put on their thinking hats and become a code-breaking secret agent this Memorial Day.

Anime Night At La Botanica

What: Anime Night returns to La Botanica May 25th! Movies, music, games, prizes, costume contests and more!
