Dorćol, a distillery, brewery and cocktail shop in San Antonio’s Southtown, will host the 4th Annual Official Ice Cream of San Antonio Competition starting at 7PM (bar open 5pm-1am) on Saturday, August 4th. This year they are partnering with the San Antonio Cocktail Conference, with all admission proceeds to benefit the Contemporary Art Month, a San Antonio non-profit. Chefs and artisan ice cream makers from across San Antonio will use their culinary skills to create frozen treats using Dorćol’s award-winning Kinsman Apricot Rakia. Among others, the 2018 participant list includes creative teams from Barbaro, Botika, Creative Eats, Kimura, The Hoppy Monk, Liberty Bar, Rosella and Piatti. Guests will vote for their favorite flavor to be crowned People’s Choice, while a panel of judges will pick their top flavor and name it the Helado Borracho, the 2018 Official Ice Cream of San Antonio. This year’s judging panel includes: food writer Ron Bechtol, SA2020 President and CEO Molly Cox, San Antonio Current’s Editor Jessica Elizarraras, Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales, H-E-B Director of Insights and the First Lady of San Antonio Erika Prosper, and San Antonio Cocktail Conference Executive Director Cathy Siegel. Admission to the event is $10 and gets the guest ice cream samples for the night, with proceeds benefiting Contemporary Art Month and their mission to promote and raise the national profile of San Antonio’s contemporary art scene and artists.
